New Facilities Are On Their Way....
New facilities are about to be built at both Durham City and Queens Campus
Facilities at Durham City, due to be ready in 2010 will include:
- Indoor rowing tank
- Fencing stiles
- Squash courts
- Extended and re-surfaced sports hall
- Increased strength and conditioning provision
- Performance analysis suite
Facilities at Queens Campus, due to be ready in 2010 will include:
- 8 court sports hall with surface and lighting provision to accommodate international basketball, badminton and netball
The Graham Sports Centre
The Graham Sports Centre at Maiden Castle is the main site for Durham University Sport. The centre is set in spacious grounds on the outskirts of Durham and boasts an impressive range of facilities including:
- 5 football pitches
- 1 high-performance weights room
- 4 rugby pitches
- 2 lacrosse pitches
- 2 squash courts
- 3 training pitches
- 4 lane athletics track
- 3-court sports hall
- 1 floodlit sand-based astroturf
- 1 floodlit water-based astroturf
- 1 floodlit rubber crumb surface - new for 2009-10
- 2 netball courts
- 3 playdeck tennis courts
- 3 grass tennis courts
- 2 cricket pitches
- Spacious changing areas
- Offices & meeting room
- 1 fitness suite
- Bar and restaurant
- Over 20 ergos
The majority of University sport's managerial, administrative and coaching staff are based at the centre. The centre can be booked at certain times for public use. Please ring 0191 334 2178 for more information.
The Racecourse
There are also facilities at our Racecourse site, which is situated less than five minutes walk from the Graham Sports Centre. The facilities include:
- 1 cricket pitch
- 2 football pitches
- 1 rugby pitch
- 2 squash courts
