Coaching & Officiating

The coaching and officiating opportunities for students, staff and members of the local community are vast. During 2008/09 over 200 students qualified as either a coach or an official.

In 2009/10 Team Durham will host or facilitate student participation in over 25 coaching and officiating courses. Many of the courses are partially or wholly funded by Team Durham, and in exchange those who qualify are simply required to commit to ten hours of volunteering within the Community of College Sport programme.

The Department also seeks to provide additional support to those wishing to further their development beyond preliminary qualifications. All of those who qualify are presented with an opportunity to access tutoring from experienced external volunteers, whilst Team Durham will financially support further coaching and officiating development for those who have evidenced the necessary level of commitment and support for the Team Durham programme.

2009/10 programme soon to be published
