Durham Sporting Forum

The DSF partnership is a University-led initiative that aims to help the young athletes in Durham City to reach their full potential through a partnership involving city sports clubs. It brings together coaches, trainers, medical experts, officials and governing bodies, and encourages them to align their development plans so that they can pool and share facilities and expertise.

By working closely with Sport England the governing bodies ensure development plans are consistent with regional, national and international objectives, this in turn will enable them to make more effective bids for development funding.

Former Sports Minister the Rt. Hon. Richard Caborn described the partnership as "probably the best example in the country of a multi-sports club set around an academic institution", and adds 'it is an ideal framework within which to encourage participation.
