Major Fundraising Events
Michaelmas Term - Rugby Charity Challenge
The Rugby Charity Challenge has taken place for the past five years, and is always a major fundraiser. The event involves Durham University 1st XV taking on a BUCS Northern Premier League side in a BUCS league fixture. The aim each year is to get 5000 people to watch the game. If this was achieved it would be the largest crowd outside of Twickenham or the Zurich Premiership in the history of the English game. Although we have attracted over 4000 people on three occasions, we have not yet reached our target!

Epiphany - Durham Fun Run
The Fun Run takes place over two days. On the Friday, local primary schools are invited to attend and run round a mini course. The children are also given sponsorship packs in the hope that they will be able to raise additional money for the cause. On the Saturday, students and members of the local community run the full course. Although the 2008 event was the largest yet, it is hoped that in future years the event will attract more runners from the community and that it will continue to grow.

Easter Term - Charity Twenty20 Cricket
This event has now been running for three years. On each occasion Durham's 1st XI has taken on their counterparts from Northumbria. In 2007/08 a Last Night of the Proms event was added to the programme. This proved to be very popular and is likely to be a permanent part of the day in the coming years.
