I've been volunteering with Team Durham, and specifically the Second Chance Project for two years. The experience has been incredibly rewarding; introducing me to people and perspectives that I would otherwise never have encountered. Seeing the participants grow in skill and confidence throughout the program made all of the time and effort invested more than worthwhile. I would encourage anybody with even a remote interest in volunteering with Team Durham to give it a go: you might be surprised by just how much you enjoy it.

Tom Beaumont
I am a postgraduate student studying Public Policy and Health. Whilst at university, I enjoy competing in college and university sports as well as attending college social events. As a volunteer at Team Durham, I work with various groups facilitating sporting activities. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering as I enjoy helping others and firmly believe in the physical and psychological benefits that physical activity interventions can achieve. In addition, I believe the volunteering will help me gain valuable experience for my desired career path in health improvement.
