Team Durham is based upon the three core strands of Participation, Performance and Community. Our Community Sports Development and Physical Activity Programme is wide-ranging, covering a broad range of age bands and a variety of abilities.
Our community sports programme includes session for juniors and adults, including activities during the school holidays.
See below for more detail on our current sessions.
Holiday Camps
We run holiday sports camps throughout the year through the school holidays at Easter, summer, October half-term and February half-term. Click on the picture to the right of the page for further details.
Sculling Camps
This summer saw the return of our popular summer sculling camps. From learn to row through to performance camps our rowing team worked with young people to develop and improve their skills.
Information on future camps will be posted here.
Volunteering and coach development is at the heart of our programme. Volunteering is a fun, rewarding way to develop transferrable skills, gain experience and give back to the local community - click here for information and our current sports volunteering opportunities for students.
Students can join our Community sport activator scheme which offers tailored development opportunities and access to training courses. Members of the public (age 14+) can also volunteer on our holiday camps programme.

Team Durham currently host a number of regular Junior Sports Clubs across a number of sports. These can change throughout the year and currently include volleyball, tennis and hockey. Ages range from as young as 3 through to 17 depending on the activity. For more information please see our Team Durham Sports Club page Junior Sports Clubs - Durham University or email us at teamdurham.community@durham.ac.uk with any questions or to reserve a place.
We also provide opportunities for adults to access sport and physical activity provision, working with our community partners (Lanchester Road Hospital, Changing Lives, Blindlife, Waddington Street Centre and Resolve Care) where we use sport and physical activity to increase wellbeing and social inclusion.
We work very closely with the local community, working in partnership with organisations to offer a range of opportunities. These include working with Durham City and Chester le Street School Sports Partnership to host a variety of festivals and events, we offer strength and conditioning support to the Durham Institute of Sport programme working with Durham County Council and work with County Durham Sport to support the delivery of the School Games Programme.
The University Sport and Wellbeing Park is home to many local clubs and teams including Durham City Harriers, Elvet Striders, Lazlo's Fencing Club, Durham Mums on the Run, Durham City Hockey Club, City of Durham Fives Club and Durham Women Football Club.
