Birmingham beaten as Men's Fencing achieve biggest win of the season
(28 January 2010)
The men’s fencing first team continued this season’s bizarre ‘win one, lose one’ sequence, earning a massive 135-73 win over Birmingham.
The victory was their highest of the season, and it consolidated their third place in the BUCS Northern Premier League.
They began with the foil and came through comfortably by 45 points to 28. The épée proved to be Birmingham’s best weapon, but Durham still came through 45-35. They ended with the sabre and Durham sprinted over the line with a 45-10 win.
Captain Didier Nohlmans praised the entire team’s performance, and it sets them up well for the BUCS knockout stages next month.
