Queen's Campus
Introduction
This academic year will see the completion of the New Sports Facilities here at Queen's Campus. The facility will include a International Standard Indoor Hall which will cater for basketball, volleyball, netball, badminton, football, futsal and much more. In addition we will have a state of the art Fitness Suite including a seperate Strength and Conditioning room, Ergo Gallery for rowers, Spinning Room and Multi Activity room. Behind the new sports facility we have a sand based astro turf which caters for football, hockey, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee and rugby.
With the development of the new sports facilities the University is now in a position not only to develop sport, but to also help improve the health and quality of life among the people of Tees Valley. Everyone from students, staff, local schools, the public and the corporate community can take part and benefit from regular physical activity, which will contribute to a healthier lifestyle.
To help achieve this Team Durham staff are developing an initiative 'Centre for Life' which will look to bring together local partners with specialist knowledge in health, fitness, education, sport and public provision. The Centre for Life will offer new opportunities for students, school and community groups to come to the Campus and follow tailor-made activity programmes and hold sporting tournaments with the support and guidance of professional staff. In supporting the community as a whole, the University will also help in the development of Sporting Excellence in the Tees Valley.
