About:

Women's football is going from strength to strength across the country and it's not any different here at Durham University. The Women's Football Club is benefiting from the increased involvement of girls in the sport. The first team are in the BUCS Northern League 1A, one league above the Premier Division, and the second team compete in the Northern League 4B. The first team also compete in the BUCS Trophy Cup, and the second team compete for the BUCS Conference Cup.

We also have a thriving futsal programme, reaching the quarter-final stage of the national championships in the past 2 years. Squad members are encouraged to also play for their respective college sides as the club believes this will boost the ability of the college teams as they have the experience of playing with and against university standard players.

At the Club we have a committed and inclusive ethic to football. We train several times a week and at our training sessions, girls have the chance to improve their skills, learn more about the technical and tactical side of the game and experience the infectious team spirit of Durham WAFC. Professional coaching is on hand during all of our sessions and on match days.

We have several international players on scholarships, meaning we have a host of american and english talent, allowing us to utilise skills from the breadth of our team.

Trials are be held during freshers week and information can be found on the website or at the Freshers Fair. However if you miss out at these trials don't despair as top college players are often asked to step up to the university side. Or, you can contact our Club Captain, Anna Derrick, on 07889062155 to arrange a trial.

The Women's Football Club is a member of the Team Durham Performance programme, an initiative designed to maximise the performance of university clubs and individual athletes.

We also compete in county league fixtures and the FA Cup in association with The Durham Wildcats.
