About:
Durham University Triathlon Club is entering its fifth year of operation, and is continuing to grow and improve. Our aim as an all-inclusive club is to be accessible to newcomers to the sport, as well as offering high-level training to more seasoned athletes.
We have grown since our inception in 2007 from just 4 athletes to over 60. During this time we have embraced the influx of amateur athletes looking to get involved with a sport exploding in popularity, and built up a strong programme of development for experienced triathletes.
We maintain good relations with other sports clubs within the university, which often benefits both sides. In addition, we are closely connected with the local triathlon club, with whom we train and socialise.
Our BUCS competition is centred around the Duathlon, Sprint distance triathlon and Olympic distance triathlon championship events, which are open to all members.
Our training takes place in a variety of locations. We swim in the local 6 lane, 25m pool, run on the university track and local trails, and do cycle training on the rolling North East landscape. We also run core and strength sessions in the university gyms.
We currently have dedicated swimming and running coaches, as well as student coaches who are qualified up to BTF/Athletics Level 2.
