Basketball

Shape Smart

Durham University Basketball is going through an exciting phase of rapid development. The University Club are now partnered with Men's National League Division 2 club, the Durham Wildcats, a link which has transformed the fortunes of both programmes. Two promotions in two years has resulted in the university men's team sitting just one division below the British Universities Premier League and the team go into the 2009/10 season with high hopes of further success. The women's programme is also developing fast. The women's side currently sit in BUCS Northern Division 1 and with plans already being put in place for a National League team in 2010/11, Durham is fast becoming a genuine option for some of the best basketball talent in Britain.

Second teams also exist for men's and women's basketball. A combination of the second team squads and the competitive inter collegiate programme ensures that all students, no matter what their standard of play, have an opportunity to play basketball on a regular basis.
