Hockey At Durham

Durham University Hockey Club is one of the strongest clubs in Durham University Sport - a statement which was emphatically underlined when they were awarded the prestigious Director of Sport, Club of the Year award for 2011/12.

The club prides itself on achieving the essential balance between sporting excellence and social involvement. We have the highest number of performance teams of any Durham University Sports Club with four men's and four women's sides competing regularly in the BUCS and England Hockey National Leagues.

Last year was a great season for the club. The women's first team were crowned BUCS Northern Premier League Champions and BUCS Championship Gold medal winners. The men, likewise, topped the their BUCS Northern Premier League and won the silver medal at the BUCS Championships. In our Performance Programme, the 2012/13 season will see both the men's and women's first teams competing in their respective National North Conference Leagues. Mirroring this, both second teams will compete in the Regional Premier Leagues.

We strongly believe that we have a unique hockey programme which is attractive to players from all around Britain. Furthermore, our Olympic standard, water-based surface and high specification sand dressed pitch ensures that our players also get to train and compete on some of the best university facilities available.
