Durham University Netball Club is in an exciting phase of its long history. The 2006 Team Durham Club of the Year and 2008/09 BUCS Northern Conference Champions have recently appointed their first full time coach. Marie Ewing, a member of the Team Northumbria Super League squad, is responsible for the development of a performance, participation and junior development programme.

Marie is supported by Graduate Assistant Chrissie Munro who is studying on a part time basis but also working for Team Durham to develop the junior netball programme and to support Marie’s work with the University squad.

• Bath University BUSA Championship winner – 2008
• Studying for an MA in Management
In 2008/09 the Women’s First Team gained promotion to BUCS Northern Conference Division 1, and with a total of four Super League players in the 2009/10 starting line up, including current under 21 international and scholarship athlete, Abi Ryan, the First Team have their sights set firmly on promotion to the BUCS Northern Premier League with a longer term objective of being ranked within the top five student sides in Britain within three years. Our links to the Team Northumbria Super League programme are of real benefit to our students. Our programmes work in tandem to ensure that students are able to train and compete for Northumbria with minimal disruption to their study and netball programme at Durham.

One of the unique elements of the Durham University programme is that the second team are just as important. All second team training sessions are led by the senior coach and there is a strong togetherness within the club, helped by a vibrant social scene, which ensures that no matter where you sit within the club structure, you will have an enjoyable, rewarding and memorable experience.
Durham University Netball is a Tier 1 Performance Club and athletes within the club have access to the following support services
- Full time professional coaching support
- Sports specific strength and conditioning and fitness support
- Access to nutritional guidance seminars and additional nutritional information
- Access to Connect Physical Health Centre Open Clinics and pre booked physiotherapy sessions to selected athletes
- Access to an on-site doctor to selected athletes
- Team performance and individual technique video analysis (First Team only)
- Access to a comprehensive pre-winter season, post Christmas and pre-summer season training programme
- Support in attaining sporting concessions where the performer is in good academic standing
- Lifestyle and time management support / mentoring for selected athletes
