Netball

One of the best options in Britain for academic netball players

Durham University Netball Club is sponsored by Ernst and Young

Durham University Netball Club (DUNC) is in an exciting phase of its long history. With the recent appointment of our first full time coach, and an emphatic 2009/2010 season leading to the return of our first team into the BUCS premier division, the Palatinate ladies are eager to build on last season's success.

Members of DUNC are part of a dedicated squad and one of the friendliest teams at Durham. Three teams are represented within the BUCS league. For our first team competition will be fierce within the Premiership, but we believe we have put together a programme that can offer some of the best support for undergraduate netball players in the country. Our second team is in Division Two and these players regularly challenge our top players for court time. We have also entered a third team into BUCS this year to provide another opportunity for Durham Students to represent Durham.

At the top level, our objective is to achieve top four national status within the next two seasons. Currently supporting a number of Superleague players and young internationals, we have forged a strong link with Team Northumbria, thus ensuring that these players are offered support to compete within both University and Superleague structures. Personalised strength and conditioning, psychology and nutritional support, all developed around academic commitments, helps us to oversee the transition of student athletes into senior netball players who are maximizing their talent.
