Tennis
One of the best options in Britain for academic tennis players
Durham University Tennis Club: Sponsored by Centrica
Durham University has a long standing tradition of excellence in tennis. The men’s first team are consistently ranked within the top twelve sides in British University sport, whilst the women’s first team are regularly ranked within the top six.
With the objective of achieving further success, the club have developed a full time coaching structure to oversee the management of the University’s six sides and the development and recruitment of athletes for the 2009/10 academic year and beyond.
There is now an opportunity for players to train indoors and receive coaching seven days a week, whilst the social side of the club remains as vibrant as ever with students often developing life long friendships.
The club have three male sides and three female sides that compete on a weekly basis throughout the British University season. This allows the club to cater for a range of abilities from one on one coaching for some of the best student tennis players in Britain to providing regular structured training sessions for students that simply enjoy the game.
