WBBL Durham Palatinates Progress to Semi Finals of Benecos Play Offs

(29 April 2019)

Saturday saw our Durham Palatinates WBBL team travel away to Manchester Mystics for the Quarter Finals of the WBBL Bencos Play- Offs.

With a fifth place finish in the league, just below Manchester in fourth, the game was set to be close from the outset. After some good early offensive play from both sides, quality shooting from Manchester saw Durham end the first quarter 22-27 down. They gained back ground in the second quarter, with Theairra Taylor putting up 13 points throughout the half to narrow the gap to 45-47. Quarter three saw the Palatinates find a new gear completely and they stormed into the lead by a big 15 points, heading into the fourth and final quarter with a semi-final place in sight. The girls secured the final quarter with an end score of 89-80, with a fantastic 24 points for Eduardo Rudiane and 21 for Captain Monika Bosilj. They have made history for the second time this season, with this being their first play-off semi-final to date.

The girls travel to Seven Oaks on Monday 6th April to play against the League winners in what will be a tough game! We wish both the team and coaching staff the best of luck!
