Team Durham launches new Fitness Centre
(31 July 2019)
Between 26th and 28th July, 230 people visited The Fitness Centre for the opening weekend between Friday and Sunday despite experiencing 6 hours of power cuts coupled with heavy rain.
The weekend was opened up to staff, students and members of the public in a bid to promote the brand new facility including the latest state-of-the-art fitness equipment, including cardiovascular and resistance machines as well as fitness trackers.
It was great to see a lot of new faces as well as returning loyal gym goers. 136 people were new customers, having not previously been a member of the University Fitness suite.
It is anticipated that this will be a busy week fo rour gym staff as many people have stated they will join following the Open Weekend.
The Fitness Centre recieved some excellent feedback form everyone who visited across the weekend, they were very impressed with the equipment and are excited for the exercise classes to start.
Thanks to the facility team for helping us to get the gym ready and working in The Fitness Centre all weekend.
We’re currently investing £32 million upgrading the facilities to create the Durham University Sports and Wellbeing Park, which will offer more space, more classes, and better facilities for all users.
