Sculling Camps 2017
Summer sculling camps have been running at Durham University since 2003. The camps continue to grow in size and prestige on an annual basis. Our sculling camps are run during July and August every year and are structured to cater for a wide range of ages and abilities. They are delivered by the team’s experienced coaching staff who, in conjunction with DUBC students, ensure that all of the participants are given the optimum opportunity to learn and develop during their time on the camp.
The camps are run from our land training base at Maiden Castle in Durham City and for our last week at Durham University’s water training base at Tyne United Rowing Club (www.tyneunited.co.uk). Athletes attending the Performance Camps are encouraged to bring their own equipment, although there are a number of sculling boats and blades which can be hired and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Coaches wishing to be involved in the camps are also welcome to attend and support their athletes. In recent years the camps have also included elements of education in the powered rowing tank as well as both core and flexibility screening.
