Palatinates secure a record 9 National Championships
BUCS Big Wednesday saw teams from across Britain come together for 24 National Championship finals, seeking to secure their title as the best student team in Britain. After a highly successful season, Durham were represented in 13 different Championship finals, along with three National Trophy finals, and secured a record 9 National Championships on a day that will long be remembered!
To win any National Championship takes a great deal of dedication, hard work and sacrifice. Our students and staff have worked tirelessly all year and on the day, every team put in performances to be proud of.

A brilliant Season for DUFC
The men’s first team have had an unbeaten season this year. Having won all their league matches, they are expecting no less than gold for the Championships. Their results at individuals have also spoken for themselves, with two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, they are certainly the strongest team in the country. Their semi-final win against UCL secured their position in the finals and proved yet again their commitment to securing the Championship title.

Men's Fencing destroys St Andrews
With a 7am start and a five-hour coach journey into the depths of Scotland, the men's Fencing had a tough start before the big match. St Andrews had proved no bother at home but team Durham knew that St Andrews had the advtantage of being on their home territory. After a good warm up, dusting off the mental cobwebs more than the physical, foil got underway.

Women's Fencing take on a glorious win against Newcastle
Durham University Women’s 1st fencing team takes a well-deserved win over Newcastle yesterday. A great start to what is expected to be a promising season! Team Durham demonstrated their proficiency in the three weapons: the foil, épée, and sabre while successfully leading with 129-86.

BUCS Wednesday Preview - 12th October
Join us this Wednesday in the kick off of the BUCS season for Team Durham! Over 70 games between 14 different sports teams will be played, with Team Durham hosting over 40 home games! Team Durham ended last year’s season as Britain’s Number 1 Team Sport University, and recording more league and cup points than any other. We are thrilled to begin this season off strong and concluding better than before!

BUCS Results - 24th February 2016
It was an important BUCS Wednesday for Team Durham as 15 sports competed in a variety of competitions across the country.
Men's and Women's Football had huge quarter final games on 3G1, however the pressure didn't seem to affect them. The men beat Bath University on penalties and the women put four goals past Sheffield Hallam.
Men's and Women's Lacrosse also continued their unbeaten runs after beating Nottingham Trent and Oxford University, and Men's Hockey beat Bath University in a 3-2 thriller.
These victories secured all of these teams a place in next weeks semi-finals.

Men's Basketball beat Leeds Beckett to secure second place in the Premier North, Netball 1's and 2's get huge wins against Newcastle and York, and Men's and Women's Volleyball win in straight sets to top off the days success.

BUCS Results- 25th February
Yesterday’s results saw nine Durham teams (men’s fencing, women’s football, men’s and women’s hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s table tennis, men’s and women’s tennis) progress to the semi-finals of BUCS Championship competition, while five teams (men’s badminton, women’s lacrosse, women’s squash, women’s tennis) progressed to the semi-finals of BUCS Trophy competition. There was also a Premier North title claimed by the women’s basketball 1st team after a comfortable win over Edinburgh.

BUCS Preview- 3rd December
On the final BUCS Wednesday of 2014, our teams will be hoping to maintain their momentum going into the Christmas period. After a stunning 3-2 away to Nottingham last week, the men’s football 1st XI will be hoping to continue that form into tomorrow’s fixture against Northumbria. It should be a close affair too, with both sides currently on nine points in the Premier North. Meanwhile the women’s 1st XI will also be looking for a home win against Northumbria the side remain on top of the Premier North having gone unbeaten so far this season, however the visitors are their nearest rivals just six points behind with a game in hand. The men’s fencing 1st team also face a crucial match against Newcastle with the winner guaranteed to top the Premier North going into the new year.

BUCS Results- 26th November
This week saw fantastic BUCS results across the board with teams excelling in league and cup fixtures. In the Premier North games Durham secured their best results of the season with fourteen wins, two draws and just one loss this week. This included wins in men's and women's football, women's hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, women's badminton, men's and women's rugby union, men's tennis, men's and women's volleyball, men's fencing and men's and women's basketball. Meanwhile in the cup competition 26 teams progressed into the quarter final stage of the BUCS Trophy and Northern Conference Cup competitions. Men’s fencing secure emphatic win against Lancaster
The men’s fencing 1st team bounced back this week with a comprehensive win over Lancaster to stay second in the Premier North. The final score of 135-68 reflected their dominance, with the Palatinates winning all three weapons: 45-17 (foil), 45-30 (epee) and 45-21 (sabre), respectively.
