Club Captain: Colm Hanway and Georgia Dawson
Durham University Amateur Boxing Club is a thriving community that caters for seasoned competition fighters, beginners and everyone in-between. Throughout its history DUABC has achieved great success at both BUCS and EUBS tournament winning gold and silver medals.
As an ABA affiliated club, we adhere to the strict regulations of amateur boxing (3 x 2 minute rounds, head guards, mouth guards and 10oz gloves) as well as offering medical checks ensuring the safety of all our members.
Training is available 5 days a week with fitness sessions on Monday and Tuesday, Strength and Conditioning on Wednesday and sparring on Thursday and Friday. Training is mandatory for competitive fighters but optional for everyone else. The Club trains at the Hild Bede East gym. Essential equipment is provided although members are advised to bring hand wraps and mouth guards. Our ultimate aim is to create a team capable of representing Durham at BUCS against other universities and amateur clubs and we are always on the look out for good and experienced fighters. If you feel you qualify as one and are interested in attending our preseason, please message us in the information below.
We also cater for those who wish to enjoy the health benefits of the training and enjoy being part of a large social club of likeminded athletes. As such, there is a huge social community surrounding the club in which we organise socials, cultural outings and community outreach projects. Last year, our annual Durham Charity boxing show raised around £9,000 for Sport in Zambia.
