Durham Women’s Volleyball secure National Super 8s Title

Durham Women’s Volleyball team have secured the Volleyball England Super 8s title, defeating Team Northumbria 3-2 in both legs of an action packed final. The Super 8s competition is the highest level of volleyball in the country, and this accomplishment represents the first time that any Durham team have been crowned champions of England within a top tier competition in any sport – an incredible achievement!

Palatinates secure a record 9 National Championships

BUCS Big Wednesday saw teams from across Britain come together for 24 National Championship finals, seeking to secure their title as the best student team in Britain. After a highly successful season, Durham were represented in 13 different Championship finals, along with three National Trophy finals, and secured a record 9 National Championships on a day that will long be remembered!

To win any National Championship takes a great deal of dedication, hard work and sacrifice. Our students and staff have worked tirelessly all year and on the day, every team put in performances to be proud of.

Team Durham Weekly Round Up 20/10/16

It was another strong week for Team Durham across all sports. Here are some of the highlights from our premier division teams including an 81st consecutive victory for the men's lacrosse 1st team, the women's volleyball 1st team continuing their dominant start to the season and a huge win over Northumbria for the men's basketball 1st team.

BUCS Wednesday Preview - 12th October

Join us this Wednesday in the kick off of the BUCS season for Team Durham! Over 70 games between 14 different sports teams will be played, with Team Durham hosting over 40 home games! Team Durham ended last year’s season as Britain’s Number 1 Team Sport University, and recording more league and cup points than any other. We are thrilled to begin this season off strong and concluding better than before!

Tension was high this week as it was the annual BIG BUCS WEDNESDAY down at Sheffield Hallam University. Team Durham had eight teams competing in the National finals and one competing in the trophy final, so it was everything to play for!

The Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams headed down to Bournemouth this weekend for the BUCS Final 8’s where they would take part in a 3 game round robin.

BUCS Results - 24th February 2016

It was an important BUCS Wednesday for Team Durham as 15 sports competed in a variety of competitions across the country.

Men's and Women's Football had huge quarter final games on 3G1, however the pressure didn't seem to affect them. The men beat Bath University on penalties and the women put four goals past Sheffield Hallam.

Men's and Women's Lacrosse also continued their unbeaten runs after beating Nottingham Trent and Oxford University, and Men's Hockey beat Bath University in a 3-2 thriller.

These victories secured all of these teams a place in next weeks semi-finals.

Another great BUCS Wednesday for Team Durham as many teams continue to fight for those precious points in the final weeks of regular season.

Men's Basketball beat Leeds Beckett to secure second place in the Premier North, Netball 1's and 2's get huge wins against Newcastle and York, and Men's and Women's Volleyball win in straight sets to top off the days success.

First and Second place for Men’s and Women’s Volleyball in the Student Cup

This weekend Volleyball England held the Student Cup at the University of East Anglia. This event is one of the biggest indoor student volleyball competitions in the UK and saw 32 of the top University and College teams from across the country battle it out for the title.

Wednesday 9th December 2015 BUCS Results

Team Durham compete in their final fixtures before Christmas break and have another successful BUCS Wednesday.

Women's Football secure a 4-2 win against Leeds Beckett to stay top of the table over Christmas, while Women's Lacrosse continue their unbeaten run after a solid win against Manchester.

Men's Badminton beat Leeds Beckett 8-0, and Men's Squash scrape through against the University of Leeds with a 3-2 victory.

Durham demolish Loughborough in BUCS Varsity

Team Durham came out on top of Wednesday’s BUCS clash with Loughborough where everyone truly was bleeding palatinate. Tension was high, but Durham pushed the nerves aside and came out victorious with 12 wins out of a possible 15, proving that they deserve to be the Britain’s Number 1 Team Sport University.
