Sport at Durham is based around the three core strands of performance, participation and volunteering/community outreach. Our focus provides unique opportunities for students and staff to excel, develop new skills, try something new, have fun and keep fit.

At the heart of Durham University Sport is the belief that sporting activity can truly help to develop important life skills for our students such as teamwork, communication, perseverance and leadership. There is strong evidence that developing these skills enhances employability and earning potential. Very few universities combine academic and sporting excellence more seamlessly, successfully and consistently and this award is a reflection upon the unique programme that we offer.
